Healing does not happen all at once — and you do not have to navigate it by yourself.
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) offering individual, couples, and family therapy in a space designed to feel safe, honest, and human.
My work is rooted in the belief that healing isn't about becoming someone new — it's about returning home to yourself, with more clarity, compassion, and steadiness than before.
My work draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness — helping you make room for what's hard, reframe unhelpful patterns, reconnect with what matters, and meet each moment with a little more steadiness.
During my master's degree, I completed a thesis focused on the LGBTQ+ community and the impact of religious trauma — work that continues to shape my passion for advocacy. I am committed to being an affirming, safe presence for LGBTQ+ clients, and to walking alongside anyone navigating the wounds that can come from faith communities.
Beyond the modalities, I'm just a human who finds real passion in being present with other humans — walking alongside you on your journey toward personal peace.
Whether you arrive carrying anxiety, grief, relational pain, or simply a sense that something needs to shift — you are welcome here. We'll move at your pace.

I've had the privilege of working across an array of populations and settings — including community mental health, inpatient mental health treatment, and outpatient services. Each setting has shaped the way I show up in the room: with curiosity, humility, and a deep respect for what every person brings with them.
I'm a client-centered clinician who weaves together mindfulness, compassion, trauma-informed care, insight-oriented work, and motivational techniques to help clients move toward their goals at a pace that feels right for them.
I've also served as a Director of Outpatient Services, where I oversaw and facilitated outpatient programming — including Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), individual and group therapy, and family counseling. That leadership work deepened my understanding of how layered, collaborative, and individualized real care has to be.
My aim is simple — to journey alongside my clients, offering insight and steady support so they can recognize and meet their goals, and step into their full potential.
Experience across community mental health, inpatient treatment, and outpatient care — including PHP and IOP programming.
Oversaw and facilitated outpatient programming, individual and group therapy, and family counseling at the program level.
Has served as a clinical supervisor — supporting fellow social workers as they navigate the field and continue growing in their profession.
A strong, lifelong passion for advocating alongside disenfranchised communities — using the social work lens to push for dignity, access, and a more just system of care.
I'm originally from Michigan and moved to Arizona in 2006. These days, you'll find me in central Phoenix with my husband, our two children, two dogs, and two very furry cats — a full, lively household that keeps me grounded.
My husband and I share a strong passion for fitness and the outdoors. We love to travel and are both certified scuba divers — before our kids came along, much of our time was spent under the water and on the road exploring new places.
Now, with our kids in the mix, we travel whenever we can and spend as much time together as possible — at the pool, on bike rides, and chasing any excuse to get them out of the house and into the world.
While completing my master's degree, I wrote my thesis on LGBTQ+ issues and advocacy work within this community — a focus that continues to be a deep professional and personal passion of mine.
I'm in the beginning phases of writing a book that addresses some of the bigger issues and patterns I see clients walking in with — the threads that keep showing up across so many different stories. My hope is to honor what people have trusted me with and to find better, more human ways to help us all navigate this crazy world.
The motivation behind it is rooted in my deep passion for advocacy, mental health, and the clients I have the privilege to serve.
I'm deeply honored to have been recognized by Phoenix Magazine as one of their Healthcare Heroes of 2025 — an acknowledgment I share with every client who has trusted me with their story.

Matthew is a gentle, bow-tie-wearing member of the Oak & Wave team. For clients who find comfort in animal companionship, his quiet presence can bring a sense of calm, grounding, and warmth to our time together.
Research on animal-assisted therapy suggests that the company of a calm pet can help ease anxiety, soften difficult conversations, and create a softer landing place for big emotions.
That said — I completely understand that not everyone shares my love of kitties.
If you'd prefer that Matthew not be present for our sessions — whether due to allergies, comfort, or simple preference — please just let me know. He'll happily stay home on your days, no explanation needed.
